We had heard that most of the local Hairy Caterpillars in this area are poisinous, so we decided to research it before playing with the tuffty little guy. Turns out that the specific caterpillar is the most poisinous type of caterpillar that lives!!! If you touch any of the hairs on him or even a hair that falls off you could suffer from; swelling, numbness, and nausea for up to 16 hours. Needless to say, we did not schedule a play date with that tuffty little fellow.
